COPY/LINE EDIT AND PROOFREADING SERVICES

Copy/Line Edit

$0.02-0.03 cents per word.*

A combination line/copy edit looks at a range of issues. These include sentence structure, voice, word choice, repeated words, removal of unnecessary words, and general ‘readability’. Feedback on plot (fiction) or structure (non-fiction) issues is provided in the form of suggestions and comments. Minimal fact checking can also be provided on request.

ProofreadIing

$0.015-0.025 cents per word.*

A proofread is a basic service and will only cover general typos (grammar mistakes, punctuation errors, missing words, wrong words, and wrong names).  

NOTE: A Proofread is only for work that has been previously edited. It is the final quality control step before publication, and should not be used in place of a line/copy edit. The editor will not provide suggestions on word choice or sentence structure. Additionally, fact checking is not included.

Post-Edit Proofread

$0.011-0.018 cents per word.*

This gives you a 25% discount on the regular proofreading rate when booked in conjunction with a copy/line edit. A different editor and proofreader will be used to reduce the chance of errors being missed.

Website Line/Copy Edit and Proofread

$150.00 PER WEBSITE.

Includes:

  • Checked for sentence structure, word choice, repeated words in a sentence or paragraph, removal of unnecessary words, and general ‘readability’.
  • The editor will use track changes in word.
  • A ‘clean’ document will all changes accepted. You can copy and paste this document into your website.
  • Changes or new content for one month.

Paperback Formatting

Price on request
Because paperback formatting is a lot more involed, and requirements and time involved can vary (novel, poetry, academic, images required etc.) each job will be quoted on an individual per hour basis.

THINGS TO NOTE:
All documents for formatting must be sent as a word doc
Any images must be sent separately and be a minimum of 300dpi (per Amazon’s requirements).
Please specify if you would like the printed images in your book to be in colour or black and white
Please specify what size you would like your paperback to be (the average size is 5 x 8 inches.)

Blurb Writing

$30.00-50.00

I will either write your blurb from scratch or work from an existing blurb. As I want you to be happy with your final product, the price also includes two rewrites.

THE SMALL PRINT

  • A minimum charge of AUD100.00 applies to any editing/proofreading work. 
  • A non-refundable deposit of $100.00 dollars is required before any work is started. The final balance must be paid before the manuscript is returned.
  • You will be sent an editing agreement that needs to be signed and returned before any work is started.
  • US English, UK English, Canadian English, and Australian English and grammar can be used, depending on the author. Editors will adapt to whatever style required.
